Hermanus Whale Cruises has been operating in the Walker Bay area since the first permits for Boat Based Whale Watching were granted in 1998. Since then, their professional team of skippers and guides—all registered Tourist Guides from the local community of Hawston—has ensured a safe, educational and thrilling voyage. Operating with a permit that allows them to get within 50 meters of the whales, they provide a memorable and up-close encounter with these gentle giants.”

The combined experience of our Skippers and Guides enables us to provide the visitor with a vast amount of local information, especially within the Boat Based Whale Watching area. Also their knowledge of the local weather and sea conditions is considerable.

“Whale Cruiser” is the Crown Jewel from which whale watching tours operate from.

Tour Logistics

Hermanus Whale Cruises has a number of features designed to enhance your experience:

• Launch Site: New Harbour in Hermanus.
• Departure times: 09:00, 12:00, 14:00, and 16:00 (weather permitting).
• Operating Period: Whale watching is from June to November. Eco Marine trips are from December to May.
• The Boat: Their boat, the “Whale Cruiser,” can accommodate 87 passengers with a top viewing deck for 28 and a front viewing deck for 10 and is child-friendly.
• Wheelchair Accessible: The boat is wheelchair-friendly, making it an excellent option for visitors with mobility needs.

• Pricing:
  • Adults: R 1400.00 pp
  • Students: R 1300.00 pp
  • Children (4-12): R 700.00 pp
  • Children (3 and under): Free
• Duration: 2 hours.
• Payment Terms: Payment is done on arrival at the office by card or cash.
• Notes: No smoking or alcohol is allowed on trips.
